Full Description: Essential Functions/Responsibilities
To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
Assist the Head Rodeo Coach with the recruitment of all rodeo student-athletes; this will include phone recruitment, social media correspondence, traveling both in-state and out of state, coordinating campus visits, etc.
Assist with practices and competition planning; this will include scouting, assistance in practice scheduling, competition breakdown
Assist with teaching skills and strategy of rodeo techniques, running practices in the absence of a head coach, set up and tear down of equipment
Assist with the weight lifting program and assist in coaching strength training programs as designated by the head coach.
Assist with administrative duties; this will include budgeting, purchasing, travel planning, special event planning, maintaining inventory, and assisting the head coach with fundraising.
Demonstrate an active interest in the academic progress of student athletes in an attempt to prevent academic eligibility problems. This includes supervision of periodic eligibility checks of athletes during competition, enrollment procedures, degree checks and class attendance.
Assist with establishing and ensuring communication and enforcement of rules and regulations regarding student conduct, appearance, behavior and class attendance.
Other duties as assigned by the Head Rodeo Coach and Athletic Director.

Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in agriculture, equine science, livestock, or related field.
At least three year’s coaching/participation experience, preferably at the post-secondary level.
A thorough knowledge of rodeo events and the NIRA.
Ability to effectively work with various publics and diverse populations. Human relation skills of courtesy, understanding and ability to stimulate motivation, confidence and enthusiasm in students.
Administrative ability to manage details of budget, scheduling, recruiting and supervision of student progress in academic endeavors.
Obtain and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, equine science, livestock, or related field.

Ability to drive to and from events
Stamina required to demonstrate fundamentals of the sports and competitions
Carry equipment up to 75 pounds
To hear and be heard at a distance of 10 feet
Stretch, bend and reach as may be require by the sports
