Maintains the condition of campus grounds, Lake Charles, Horse Barn, Child Care, Radio Station, Adult Learning Center, and any other locations assigned by the Director of Facilities and Operations under the maintenance of Dodge City Community College.
Oversees, with other members of the grounds keeping staff, all planting and care of grass, trees, shrubs and landscaping when needed.
Maintains campus fences and outdoor equipment.
Perform general repairs to campus buildings as directed.
Assist with construction projects as needed.
Perform or assist in repairs and maintenance of all campus equipment when assigned
Assist in promoting the safety, health and comforts of students and employees
Insures that snow and ice removal is completed in a timely and safe manner.
Insures that campus litter is cleaned up as needed.
Responsible for conformance with the policies as established by the College’s Board of Trustees and the procedures that apply to the position.
Serve the College and the customers of the College in a professional and congenial manner.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Facilities.
Position works May through August

Required Qualifications
Prior grounds keeping/general maintenance experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Training and/or experience in landscaping maintenance or horticultural.
Knowledge and training in the use and application of fertilizer and landscaping chemicals.
Chemical applicators license.

Physical Requirements: With or without assistance
Ability to lift and carry 15-45 lb loads over 50 yards multiple times in an extended period.
Ability to work on feet (standing, walking, etc.) for extended periods.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, climb, crawl and lift objects for an extended period.
Ability to lift 45 lb objects overhead.
Ability to handle and manipulate tools, objects, and equipment.
Ability to read instructions.
Ability to operate or learn to operate heavy equipment and machinery.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions for extended periods.
Ability to communicate with other employees.
Ability to maintain grounds and operate utility vehicles, lawn mowers, tractors, tools and equipment.
