Short Description: Multiple positions available in our Childcare program! The objective of the Before or After School Counselor staff to provide quality enrichment/daycare for school age children during non-school hours at an affordable price. The before/after school staff will be fully responsible for direct, interactive supervision of the children enrolled in the program, and the implementation of the after school program. The site lead is responsible for structure and implementation of program activities and leading other team members. We are also seeking drivers to transport the children to and from the school to the YMCA or other activities.

Full Description: KNOW-HOW / QUALIFICATIONS

Ø Counselors are required to have some training in child care such as babysitting classes/experience, paraprofessional status, or teaching certificate and have basic first aid, CPR training

Ø Must possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and general public.

Ø Personality traits must include honestly, friendliness, dependability, self-initiative and respect for personal and property rights.

Ø Ability to communicate well with staff, volunteers and program participants.

Ø Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and other program sites and to lift 50 pounds.

Ø Maturity, tactfulness and good judgement are needed to handle supervision problems.

Ø Must be able to speak clearly and articulate accurate information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / POSITION RESPONSIBILITY

Ø Administer the After School Program as directed by Family Director.

Ø Treat each child with dignity and Respect

Ø Guide and discipline in a positive manner

Ø Direct, interactive supervision of children at all times

Ø Greet parents and introduce yourself, direct parents to sign out their child, check sign-out card (ID if necessary), and share the details of the child’s stay in the program

Ø Inform parents of schedules, changes, rules and regulations as it relates to School Age Child Care policies

Ø Execute all YMCA School Age Child Care policies, rules and regulations

Ø Commitment to the YMCA Mission Statement and Core Values

Ø Turn in Sign-In and Sign-Out sheets weekly

Ø Commitment to the YMCA Core Values and Mission and incorporate into all programs.

Ø Any other work deemed necessary by the Family Director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
