Short Description: JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Workforce Development, the Cosmetology Instructor will engage in a variety of learning support and instructional/institutional practices; recruit, advise and mentor students by providing a positive and encouraging environment for learning; and, work collaboratively within the Workforce Development department to include service on various college committees. The instructional load may consist of day/night classes; face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery, and on and off campus classes. The instructor must be able to design and implement new courses to curriculum as needed.
Base salary is determined based on the matrix outlined in the Faculty Negotiated Agreement considering credentials and experience.

Full Description: Essential Functions/Responsibilities
To understand and commit to the mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods, and remaining current on discipline specific and pedagogical issues.
Commit to familiarizing, implementing and utilizing current forms of technology both in instruction and when communicating with staff and students.
Facilitate learning in Cosmetology or related courses ranging from introductory to advanced.
Ability to instruct, set up and maintain all laboratory courses associated with community college-level Cosmetology courses.
Prepare syllabi and learning materials for classroom use.
Teach an instructional load which may consist of day, night, on/off campus, interactive television or weekend classes.
Organize and maintain appropriate classroom records and management techniques.
Order and maintain program inventory for instructional tools/equipment.
Develop curriculum to meet Kansas Board of Regents course guidelines.
Promote competency-based education; identify desired student results.
Assist with community outreach and participation in appropriate advisory committees.
Provide academic/technical/transfer advisement of students.
Recruit students.
Participate in departmental and institutional committees.
Maintain appropriate office hours to assist students.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
At least 4,000 hours work experience in the field
Kansas Cosmetology License
Kansas Cosmetology Instructor’s License
Valid industry-recognized credentials in Cosmetology. Teaching and/or training experience.
Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with groups, organizations, and institution.
Computer skills and ability to use technology in the classroom.
Must obtain and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Cosmetology
Community College or College/University teaching experience.
Physical Requirements: With or without assistance
Physical ability to work on Electrical equipment.
Ability to lift and carry 20-50 lbs
Ability to work on feet (standing, walking, constant movement) for an extended period of time.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, climb, crawl, and lift objects.
Ability to communicate, hear, and see student, staff, and faculty.
