Full Description: Essential Functions/Responsibilities
To understand and commit to the Mission of Dodge City Community College ~ that states to provide a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
Outreaches, identifies, and selects eligible TRIO Talent Search (TS) Program participants.
Informs students, parents, faculty/teachers, counselors, and support staff of the TRIO Talent Search Program goals and purposes.
Assess the academic, career, and personal needs of TRIO Talent Search Program participants.
Maintain strict confidentiality of TRIO Talent Search Program participants’ records both personal and academic records.
Assist with the recruitment and selection of TRIO Talent Search Program tutors and student peer leaders.
Assist in the training and leadership development to TRIO Talent Search Program tutors and student peer leaders.
Assist to plan travels and provide supervision on cultural and academic activities/field trips and campus visits of TRIO Talent Search Program participants.
Assist to provide the TRIO Talent Search Program participants with Kansas public education core curriculum and high school graduation requirements.
Encourage persistence, retention, values clarification, goal setting, career exploration, and student success in TRIO Talent Search Program participants.
Provides referrals to other services when appropriate so as not to duplicate target schools resources and services.
Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Minimum of High School diploma/GED.
Proven ability to work with diverse populations including traditional and non-traditional students.
Sensitivity to, respect for, and understanding of the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged K-12 grade students.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Must obtain and maintain Kansas Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree
Ability to follow detailed instructions.
Flexible travel and work schedule to partner schools and college/university visits.
Self-motivated.
Experience in educational programs at the middle school/junior high school, high school, or college/university level.
Familiar with or from a background similar to TRIO Talent Search Program participants.
Experience working with students from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds, preferably direct TRIO Talent Search Program experience.
Bilingual (English / Spanish).

Physical Requirements: (With or without assistance)
Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds over 25 feet.
Ability to hear informational speaker in conversational voice at a distance of 10 ft. and on telephone
Ability to speak clearly and audibly to others at 10 ft distance and on the telephone.
Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
